TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible under specific conditions. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Risk of fire and explosion if formulations contain flammable/explosive solvents.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!

  • INHALATION

  • Ventilation (not if powder).
    Fresh air, rest.
  • SKIN

  • Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
    Safety spectacles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
    Rinse mouth. Rest.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from food and feedstuffs.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    ODOURLESS ORANGE CRYSTALS.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing toxic and corrosive fumes including nitrogen oxides, hydrogen fluoride.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying or when dispersed, especially if powdered.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
    The substance irritates the eyes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
Boiling point at 0.5 kPa: 139-140°C
    Melting point: 49°C
    Solubility in water: none
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25°C: 0.014
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 5.07
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to water organisms, honey bees. In the food chain important to humans, bioaccumulation takes place, specifically in fish. The substance may cause long-term effects in the aquatic environment.
    N O T E S
Insufficient data are available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken. Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Agreflan, Agriflan 24, Crisalin, Digermin, Elancolan, Nitran, Olitref, Treflanocide, Treficon, Treflam, Treflan, Trifurex are trade names.
