Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness (see Ingestion.)
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles, face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    ODOURLESS, WHITE OR COLOURLESS CRYSTALS.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating producing highly toxic fumes of thallium and sulfur oxides.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV (as Tl): ppm; 0.1 mg/m3 (as TWA) (skin) (ACGIH 1992-1993).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes and the skin. The substance may cause effects on the nervous system, cardiovascular system, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. Exposure may result in death. Exposure may result in hair loss. The effects may be delayed (see Notes). Medical observation is indicated.

    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
    Melting point: 632C
    Relative density (water = 1): 6.77
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 20C: 4.87
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to aquatic organisms. It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment.
    NOTES
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. The symptoms of acute intoxication do not become manifest until up to several days have passed. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
