TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Not combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.
Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT!

  • INHALATION
  • Burning sensation. Cough. Shortness of breath. Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes).
    Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Pain. Blisters.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain. Severe deep burns.
    Safety goggles or face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Burning sensation.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into covered containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles).
Separated from strong oxidants, strong acids. Well closed.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    ODOURLESS WHITE CRYSTALLINE POWDER.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing toxic and irritating fumes including nitrogen oxides. The solution in water is a medium strong base. Reacts with strong oxidants.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.
    MAK not established.

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
No indication can be given about the rate in which a harmful concentration in the air is reached on evaporation of this substance at 20C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
Corrosive. The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Inhalation of the dust may cause lung oedema (see Notes). The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
The substance may have effects on the kidneys. This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans.
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
Decomposes below melting point: at >200C
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 20C: 66
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA

    N O T E S
The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate spray, by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. Trilon A is a trade name.
